“Well-behaved women rarely make history!” - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

Jessica shares that this favorite quote, which is proudly inked on her arm, says it all. She shares that this reminder of her own unapologetic ambition and fearless attitude fuels her every move.

Highlights from Jessica’s Story:

Jessica’s journey is as dynamic as the trucks she drives. She shares her love for trucks has been a constant throughout her life. From childhood, she was captivated by the sight of trucks on the road. In fact, the only reason she gave up her pacifier was because her mom told her the garbage truck was hungry! Jessica shares that her mom watched her wait by the window every day, fascinated by that truck. That fascination never left her, and Jessica still has a passion for motorcycles , fast cars and big rigs.

After earning her Class A CDL and adding all her endorsements, Jessica began hauling freight across the lower 48 states. She even lived in her truck for a while, putting all of her belongings in storage, not out of necessity, but because she loved the freedom of the lifestyle. “It was about being a gypsy soul with a passion for trucking,” Jessica explains. Over the years, she’s hauled everything from hazmat and chemical tankers to reefers and dry vans. For Jessica, trucking keeps her from settling with the mundane. “I don’t like being trapped in one box,” she says. “Trucking allows you to master something and then move on to something new. Bored of dry vans? Learn tankers. Not into tankers? Try doubles and triples. Don’t want to be gone weeks at a time? No problem, go run local! The opportunities are endless.”

Currently, Jessica is focusing on local driving within the construction industry, hauling semi end dumps and various construction materials, from asphalt to alloys. She also owns and operates Blue Collar Babe Candles, a business she’s passionate about. Jessica is clear about her intentions “this is a for-profit venture but with a unique twist”. Through her products and packaging, she actively supports and advocates for women in the trades.

In addition to her business, Jessica owns and runs a country retreat in Alabama, welcoming tradespeople and travelers from all over the country. “If you’re a traveling welder or construction worker, come stay with us!” she invites. Jessica takes pride in making her guests feel right at home, especially those who are away from their families for long stretches. “I way spoil our trade guests so they feel like it’s a home away from home. It’s tough being away from your loved ones when you are on job sites for long periods of time,” she says. “I want to make it a little less hard for them.”

Upcoming goals:

Looking ahead, Jessica’s goals remain simple but powerful: to continue pursuing what makes her happy, one day at a time. And with her tenacity, enthusiasm, and passion for both trucking and empowering women in the trades, it’s clear she’s well on her way.
